Maria Assunção Salgado is the owner of Pousada Atlântica in Itacaré. She lived in the United States for eight years and after that returned to Brazil to build an inn so she could work in tourism. She began to build the inn gradually because she had little money to invest. She began with three rooms and over the years was able to expand. Today, it has eleven rooms and she is extremely satisfied with the current size because it allows her to give specialised attention so customers feel right at home in Pousada Atlântica.
