Luiz Carlos and Nelly Lopes

One of the features of the Pousada Maria Farinha is the pleasure on receiving people. The owners, Luiz Carlos de Assis and his wife, Nelly Lopes Piza de Souza have always loved to entertain friends and for them the pousada is like an extension of their home, where they exercise the hospitality. Their concern on receiving and to attendance may be realized in the way they deal with employees and guests.

At the check-out time, guest fill out a questionnaire, where they give suggestions and critical. For the couple, it has also been very positive in order to set new goals and establish the priorities.

The first idea of opening a pousada was in 2002 when they decided to build their own business. The couple came from São Paulo and has been living in Itacare for 6 years, but the pousada have only been open for 3 years. They could have chosen any other place in the Brazilian coast but after knowing Itacaré they fell in love. "Itacaré is highlighted by many options it provides for the visitor to see and interact with" they explain. Luiz is a mechanical engineer and has always worked in the commercial area. Nelly is geographer with post-graduation degree in physical geography (USP) and Environmental Tourism (SENAC). She worked with tourism and related sectors in the Environmental Protection Areas (APAs). In the Pousada Maria Farinha Luiz is responsible for internal bookings and part of the administrative stuff. Nelly is in charge of the staff, financial sector, shopping, maintenance, decoration, and also painting tables, lamps and mirrors for the pousada on her spare time.

Even with all the work at the pousada, the couple did not give up to enjoy Itacare. They always go to the beaches, take walks with friends or with their children when they come to visit. Often, they also arrange dinner at home or at nearby restaurant with their friends.
