Iemanjá Water Festival

The queen of the waters and protectress of fishermen, Iemanjá, is also highly honored in Itacaré. The festivities include parade and offerings gifts to Iemanjá. The faithful, including tourists and people, dressed in white clothes and accompany the procession through the streets of Itacare. The image of Orixás and gifts are carried on floats that will be taken to sea by fishermen. The Water Festival is held since 1959 and is one of the main festivals of the city.
