Caring for destination

This tour provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.

Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

The Tree-top adventure provider hires 100% local labor and cares about protecting the natural environment.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

The Tree-top adventure provider, in partnership with a company from São Paulo that is concerned with low impact tourism in nature, gave a tree-top monitor's course for the employees. As the tour provider's owner is also a biologist, he always teaches and orientates his employees about how to care of the environment.

The Tree-top provider hires always local labor. At the moment 100% of the staff is comprised of locals.

During the route, useful information about nature and local culture are told to the guests. In order not to cause damage to the environment they stipulated a max. number of 15 people per hour on the zip line and max. of 15 people / 3 hours on the whole Tree-top circuit.

The Itacaré Tree-top Adventure cares, mainly, about their trees. All the trees are part of the circuit, which is protected so the steel ropes don't touch the trees. Additionally, every year they do maintenance work on the circuit in order to monitor all the trees. Nails or screws are not used to affix the platform. They use only a pressure system to secure the platform.
